Great success of York’s first dedicated clinical research site

Panthera’s York clinical trial site has got off to an excellent start since it was opened by the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Margaret Wells, on 25th July last year. Not only has the site engaged with nearly 1000 local patients who want to take part in clinical trials but it has also been ranked as one of the top clinical trial sites in the UK on a vaccine study.

The clinic, which is located in the Acomb Garth Community Centre, is operated in partnership with local primary care services provider Nimbuscare, and features six modern, private consultation rooms.

Panthera, which is the UK’s largest SMO (Site Management Organisation) recruiting patients on behalf of pharmaceutical companies from across the world, is currently running late stage clinical trials at its York site in Acomb and will be involved in many more including liver, respiratory, cardiovascular disease and flu vaccines.

Panthera, which works with 10 out of the top 12 pharma companies and seven of the top CROs, has six clinics across the UK and a huge database of patients who want to take part in clinical trials.

Panthera’s York clinic is involving specialist physcians and GPs to participate in the latest groundbreaking clinical research. Patient volunteers who take part in the clinical trials gain many benefits such as regular health assessments, access to the latest groundbreaking treatments, and help advance medical understanding for future generations.

The clinic is easily accessible for patients by major roadways and public transport routes. There is free on-site parking and additional free parking just across the road in a nearby community car park. Public transportation users can utilise a drop-off point outside the front entrance.

Chris Dodd, Panthera’s Chief Commercial Officer commented “Our newest clinical research site in York has got off to a flying start. We are the first company to open a dedicated research site in York and the support we have received from the local community and our partners has been fantastic and enabled us to successfully enol patients onto ground breaking clinical trials very quickly. For the York site to be ranked as one of the top clinical trial sites in the UK on its first study is a huge achievement and testament to the hard work of our team. We look forward to continuing at the same pace and bringing the very best clinical research and significant healthcare investment to the community of York”.
